COMMUNITY CONNECTION:
Broward Alliance's First Corporate Council Meeting
This past week, The Broward Alliance held the first meeting of its Corporate Council. 28 business leaders participated in a roundtable discussion on the greatest opportunities for economic growth in Broward County. Carlos Buqueras, director of business development for Port Everglades, advised us that beginning in 2010, Port Everglades will be the largest cruise port in the world, with Royal Caribbean being one of the largest cruise providers! This lead me to take a three day cruise aboard Royal Caribbean's Voyager of the Seas. The ship holds 3100 passengers and a crew of just under 1200. From employment to food, furniture, televisions, towels etc., thanks to Royal Caribbean for calling Fort Lauderdale your home. (The chef told us the ship went through 15,000 eggs in two days!)
